Erdem Kaya completed his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science at Sabancı University. He received his MS degree in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2012. He was honored with IS Academic Achievement Award in 2012 by International Student Services of the UW-Madison. He is interested in information visualization, progressive visual analytics, human-computer interaction, collaborative analytic systems, and data analytics.

Hasan joined the lab as a Masters student, subsequent to his graduation from Sabancı University in 2017 with a Bachelor degree in Computer Science and Engineering. His reasearch interests include information visualization, human-computer interaction, machine learning and human bias in visual analytics. Currently, he is working on the visual display of ego-network evolution in dynamic networks.

After graduation from Sabancı University with a bachelor degree in Computer Science and Engineering in January 2019, Mert started his master degree in Computer Science in the following semester. He is interested in data visualization, machine learning and especially machine learning & data science studies in medical fields. He loves playing video games and enjoys watching e-sports matches.

Anıl received his undergraduate degree from the Faculty of Computer Sciences at Sabancı University between 2014-2019. He continues his education life with a master’s degree in computer science and became a member of Bavlab for 2 years. His main research topics include deep learning, natural language processing, and time series transformations.

Zhandos is currently pursuing his B.A. in Management and double minor in Mathematics and Finance. He likes working on data analytics especially on topics related to behavioral finance, financial markets. He is currently working on detecting internal migration in the country based on the credit card transactions. Previously, he worked on a project about forecasting stock prices using machine learning techniques, pricing derivatives. Apart from studies and work, he enjoys drawing (graphic tablet) and reading books about Ancient Rome.

Before joining the PhD program in Sabanci university, Payam completed his previous degrees in Iran and then worked as a lecturer in a college. Holding a B.S in Computer Engineering and M.Sc in Mechatronics, he first joined SU as a Mechatronics PhD student in Spring 2019. After he took his courses mainly from the CS department, he transferred to Computer Sci. & Eng. PhD program from Fall 2020 to join his desired group, BAVLAB.
He is interested in Big data analytics and visualization as well as Machine learning on data science studies. Apart from routine concerns of research, he likes to read short pieces of inspiring essays. He loves photography and excursions in nature.

Can is a Senior Computer Science & Engineering Student in Sabancı University who is going to graduate at the end of the Spring Semester of 2020. He is also making a minor in Art Theory & Criticism besides his Bachelor’s degree. He made two internships which were based on Software Engineering. Furthermore he is interested in Data Science and Machine Learning. Personally, he likes playing tennis, watching football, travelling and visiting art galleries.

After graduation from Sabancı University with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering and minor in Mathematics in 2017, Baran joined the lab as a researcher. He is currently employed in Colendi, a credit scoring and microcredit platform, as a data scientist while pursuing his research at the lab. His research interests include data mining, data science, social network analysis, visual and behavioral analytics. Apart from studies and work, he enjoys snowboarding, watching and playing basketball, reading and travelling.

Dilara is currently an undergraduate Computer Science & Engineering student at Sabancı University and minor in Mathematics. Dilara joined BAVLAB in February 2020 as a researcher. Her main research interests are Data Analytics and Visualization in addition to Machine Learning. Besides her research studies in BAVLAB, she enjoys playing basketball, sailing, visiting art museums and art galleries.

Right after finishing his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Sciences and Engineering at Sabancı University, begins his Master’s in 2019 to pursue deeper studies in the same area. Currently researching about crowd behavior simulations and analysis. Always interested in computer graphics and high performance computing.

Alaattin is a M.Sc. student in Computer Science department at Sabanci University. He received his B.Sc. degree in Computer Science and Electronics Engineering (Double Major) from Sabanci University. His research interests are in the area of machine learning, deep learning and data visualization.

Ekberjan has the honor to join BAVLAB in Fall 2020, and is currently pursuing his PhD degree in Computer Science. After obtaining his M.Sc degree in Electrical & Electronics engineering from Boğaziçi University, he gained more than seven years of industrial experience in AI & ML. Together with publications, he has participated in two EU projects, proposed & conducted two national projects, led & developed two commercial products. His current research interests include: machine learning, deep learning, data visualization, crowd capturing, behavioral analysis, computer vision, and data mining. Besides, he loves to watch movies and documentaries, and learn new knowledge from other fields, such as history, politics, and anything that could contribute to critical thinking. As a loving husband & father, he is dedicated to his family.

Zeynep is a M.Sc. student in Industrial Engineering department at Sabanci University. She received
her B.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering and Management Information Systems (Double Major)
from Kadir Has University. Her main research interests are data science, machine learning and
natural language processing.

Mohsen Bahrami is a Ph.D. student in Operations & Supply Chain Management. Prior to beginning the Ph.D. program, Mohsen worked as a Manager and Engineer in the electronics industry. He conducted a variety of projects, involving qualitative and quantitative analysis in the Operations Management field and he won the award of Superior Managers of Electricity and Electronics Industry conference in Tehran, Iran in 2012. Mohsen received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology (2007) and his MBA from Tehran Polytechnic (2012). He is currently working on a research project in the Big Data Analytics using transactional data from the finance industry.

Mert Toka has earned his B.Sc. degree in Computer Science and Engineering at Sabanci University in 2015, and worked as a research assistant for an additional year. Currently he pursues M.Sc. degree in Media Arts and Technology at University of California Santa Barbara. He has a particular interest in Computer Graphics field that has flourished in his sophomore year. In particular, he has gained experience in data visualization, spatial displays and virtual reality. In an artistic stand point, he is interested in working on motion pictures, physical computing, interaction design and 3D animation. Some of his hobbies are scuba diving, trekking and climbing.

Alicem Batmansuyu is a multidisciplinary designer with a penchant for Motion Graphics, 3D Modeling and Data Visualisation. He worked in several design studios and companies on digital motion, 3D modeling and graphic design. Currently, he is doing his M.A. program on Visaul Arts and Visual Communication design in Sabancı University.

Doğacan Bilgili holds a B.Sc. degree in Mechatronics and is pursuing a M.Sc. degree with the thesis topic related to physical data visualisation. He has an interdisciplinary background spanning engineering and art. He shoots film, plays accordion and he is frequently bouldering.

I have received my bachelor degree from Industrial Engineering, Sabancı University and, I have completed psychology minor program during my bachelor. Currently, I am doing my MSc. Program on Business Analytics in Sabancı University, advised by Prof. Burçin Bozkaya. I love to work on event organizations, travel planning and travelling around the world.

He is pursuing a B.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering and Sciences at Sabanci University. He has a strong background in graphical programming, assembly and low level prototype hardware/electronics development. After completing his internship at IBTech international under QNB Finansbank Kaan has began to pursue new areas such as data visualization and interpretation under the BAVLAB. He is an avid RC drone enthusiast, outdoorsman and takes good pride in his audio video production.

Yasin received his Bachelor degree from Izmir Institute of Technology in July 2016. Having discovered he was passionate about visualization while working on his senior year project, he decided to pursue a Master’s degree in this field. Yasin joined Behavioral Analytics & Visualization Lab as a Master’s student in September 2016. He is zealous for computer graphics, computer vision, big data visualization, artificial intelligence, machine learning and cryptography.

Çağan Ürküp has earned his M.S. degree in Industrial Engineering at Koç University under the supervision of Burçin Bozkaya and Sibel Salman. He received his B.S. degree also at Koç University. His main interests include Operations Research and Data Mining. He developed a drone routing algorithm during his term project and he was involved in a project with Borusan about vehicle routing systems for cargo vehicles. His Master’s thesis topic is about analyzing a one-year customer transaction dataset of a bank (provided by the BAV Lab) and seeking the relation between customer mobility behavior and product usage patterns.

Kaan Telciler completed both his undergraduate and graduate study in Industrial Engineering at Koç University. With the supervision of Burçin Bozkaya and Sibel Salman, he wrote his thesis about spatio-temporal expenditure forecasting of bank customers using bank data provided by the BAV Lab. He also worked in several projects in cooperation with academy, industry and TUBITAK. Some of his studies are in use for different business purposes in industry.  His main research areas are operations research, data mining and algorithms.

Osman Can is currently studying Masters in Business Analytics in Sabancı University. He is interested in psychological grounds of Big Data, and is also willing to study text mining and social networks. Formerly a graduate of  Sabanci University Industrial Engineering program with a Psychology Minor, Osman Can has been in drama club for six years. Thus, he is hopeful and motivated to comprehend and influence human dynamics by practicing data science through the lens of different art forms and vice-versa.

Anadil is currently pursuing an MSc. degree in Business Analytics from Sabanci University. She previously did her BBA in Marketing from the Institute of Business Administration in Karachi, Pakistan. She is also working on a bank’s transactional data for her thesis which is titled “Predicting Financial Wellbeing Using Behavioral Transactional Data”. She enjoys working on R and is also a certified SAS Predictive Modeler. In the summer she will be doing an internship at Yazzoom, a big data analytics company in Belgium. Aside from this, she is also fond of exploring the outdoors and trying out different cuisines.

Mine is currently doing Masters in Business Analytics at Sabancı University. She also recieved her Bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering at Sabancı University. She likes working on data analytics especially related with subjects on human behavior. She is currently working on credit card transaction data to identify customer shopping experiences. Previously, she worked on a project about parallel machines scheduling problem depending on a single setup group. Apart from these, she enjoys travelling and being in touch with nature.
